earman194 - Jarguna - Waiting For A Call From The Unknown

Folks, we have a real treat in store for you today. We proudly unveil the debut Earth Mantra release by Jarguna, a masterful and inquisitive collection of ambient pieces called "Waiting For A Call From The Unknown".

For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the work of Jarguna, let us simply say that we think you will find much to love about his music. With more than an hour and half of some of the most mature and well composed ambience we have heard in a long time, we found so much depth to the soundscapes that we hardly noticed the passage of time as we listened.

The music carries with it a powerful theme. As Jarguna himself says:

"Generally to inform my albums I seem to always look to the Earth for inspiration. With year 2012 approaching, however, I moved my source for research and sonorities skyward.

In these times we live in, the will to search the stars, and all that is hidden there, is constantly increasing. Irrational fears are creeping up on human souls, the approaching of a fateful day prophecized by a long-ago extinct civilization is spurring many questions, and science with its manifold experiments is working hard to label this prophecy just a myth, a legend not to be heeded. Whatever the Maya were up to when they made this prophecy, it can be safely said that they are upsetting people today.

Thus came the idea of looking up to the skies, thinking ... who knows what the Maya wanted to tell us with this date, who knows what is their message. At the end of it, seeing how the world is going so far, it looks like we are waiting for something greater than us to give us new directions. But what, or who?

Many want to believe in other intelligent life forms, and what’s more, more advanced ones that might contact us and share their knowledge. This entices us and worries us at the same time.

Since its beginning, mankind has had the need to get answers from the Unknown or the Divine. But Rationality always bound us to reality, possessions always benighted us, creating an eternal conflict between earthly, endlessly defective life, and our spiritual side. More and more we find this inadequate, filling us with questions and giving no answers.

Hence this album, a distillation of my musings when I focus my thought on empty spaces, the Universe, and its mysteries."

Certainly as we listen to this gorgeous album, we hear the mysterious and experience the ineffable. In fact, we feel confident that this album stands among the top ambient albums of 2012 and represents essential listening for anyone who truly enjoys all facets of the ambient world.

So it is with great pleasure that we welcome Jarguna to the family of Earth Mantra artists, as we present to you "Waiting For A Call From The Unknown". Highly, highly recommended.

Recorded between November 2011 and March 2012 in the Sound Course Studio.

All music composed, produced, and recorded by Jarguna, except "Waiting For A Call From The Unknown Part 2" by Jarguna and Seba.

A debt of gratitude to Marcello Calasso, aka Seba for the samples of his wonderful Gong and Tam and for his help in the last track, in which his natural instruments reign unchallenged.

Special thanks to Umberto Rossi, Lorenzo Nicoletta and Roberta Giorgetti for helping me with graphics and other ways of supporting my work.

Released in June 2012.
